Brushstroke Beauties
The designs below are inspired by the ancient art of East Asian ink wash painting, also known as sumi-e, which means "black ink painting." We have added color but have preserved the simplicity that is the most outstanding trait of sumi-e. In ink wash painting, an economy of brushstrokes are used to communicate the essence of a subject.

Stitch these unique designs on sweaters, placemats, pillows, quilts, wall hangings, aprons, napkins, table runners, and more to convey the essence of your style!

Available in three sizes:
5.86"X9.25" and 4.35"X6.86" and 2.44"X3.86"

To successfully paint flowers in the ink wash tradition, it is not necessary to faithfully match their colors and petals, but rather to capture their vivacity and fragrance. They're perfect for perking up a table runner, sweater, or towels, and the colors can be tailored to match the essence of your home decor.

Available in three sizes:
5.84"X7.80" and 4.84"X6.45" and 3.44"X3.86"

The goal of sumi-e is not to simply reproduce the appearance of a subject, but to capture its soul. To paint a horse, it is more important for an ink wash artist to show its soul than to faithfully depict its muscles and bones. Reproduce the graceful spirit of this horse on pillows, placemats, and wall hangings to add elegance to your home.

Available in three sizes:
6.33"X5.82" and 5.29"X4.85" and 3.86"X3.54"

Ink wash paint brushes are similar to calligraphy brushes, and are commonly made from bamboo. The embroidered brushstrokes in the streamlined fish express movement and energy. Add to curtains, book bags, or towels to animate your style!

Available in three sizes:
5.81"X7.09" and 4.84"X5.91" and 3.16"X3.85"

Once a brushstroke is applied in sumi-e, it cannot be changed or erased. This makes ink wash painting a demanding art-form requiring great skill and concentration. We think you will agree that not one stroke of the beautiful butterfly on bamboo needs changing. Ready to reproduce in embroidery art-form, adding tradition and style to quilts, pillows, and wall hangings.

Available in three sizes:
6.31"X5.85" and 5.24"X4.84" and 3.86"X3.57"

The tools required in ink wash painting are sometimes called the "four treasures." These are brush, ink, ink stone, and paper. Graceful green brushstroke-like stitching creates a lovely Asian willow tree. Add to quilt panels, wall hangings, or jacket backs for a look you will treasure.

Available in three sizes:
6.42"X5.86" and 5.32"X4.86" and 3.86"X3.52"
