A template, or printout of a design, is an excellent tool to help with placement.

Print a template of the design from your embroidery software.

If you do not have embroidery software, Wilcom's TrueSizer is a free program to use.

To help with placement, draw a line using an air erase marker between two opposite corners of the square.

Place the template at a diagonal in one of those two corners, lining up the vertical center point with the drawn line.

Make sure the bottom of the embroidery on the template is about 7 1/2" from the corner, and mark the center point and vertical and horizontal axis lines.

The remaining steps will be seen from both sides. Wind a bobbin with the same thread used in the top.

Sew a decorative stitch around the edges of all four sides of the blanket. This will close the opening and bind the front and lining fabric together while adding some homemade flair to the project.
