A template is a printout of a design, and it's an excellent tool for placement. Print the template with embroidery software.

If you do not have embroidery software, Wilcom's TrueSizer is
a free program to use.

Position
the template so the bottom of the design will be 7"
up from the bottom of the towel.

Center it between the sides.

Mark the center point, as well as the horizontal and vertical axis lines.

Attach the hoop to the machine and move the hoop so the needle is right over the center point.

Embroider the design. A size 11, or 75/11 embroidery needle is a fine choice for embroidering on tea or kitchen towels.

Next, cut a piece of print quilter's cotton to the width of your towel plus 2". The height will be 4 1/2".

We're working with an 18" wide towel, so the fabric will be 20" x 4 1/2".

Align the bunting pieces along the top edge of the fabric, leaving one inch open along each side and overlapping the bunting pieces 1 1/4".

Pin the bunting pieces in place and sew a 1/8" seam along the top edges.

Next, cut a piece of print quilter's cotton using the same width measurement you used for the bottom trim (mine is 20") by 3" high.

Align this piece of quilter's cotton with the top edge of the bottom trim/bunting piece.

Pin in place and sew a 1/2" seam along the top edge only.
