Keep warm in style with an chic embroidered blanket scarf! This scarf is made extra large to add an even cozier look and feel than traditional winter scarves. Learn how to make the cold weather essential, plus tips and tricks for styling, too!

Project Needs & Notes

-
2 yards wool blend (wool, polyester, and acrylic) fabric
- Lightweight cutaway stabilizer (I prefer Floriani's No Show Mesh or Sulky Soft 'n Sheer)
- Air-erase pen for marking

Designs used in this tutorial include X12055, A Intricate Ink Winter Wonderland Design Pack.

Finished Size: 72" x 36"

Special Notes:
To allow the scarf to drape beautifully, choose light and airy designs like the "Intricate Ink" designs, as well as lightweight stabilizer. These help the fabric drape with best results.

Cut a piece of your fabric to 72" x 36".

Print a template of your design from embroidery software.

A template is a printout of a design, and it's an excellent tool for planning where to stitch.

If you do not have embroidery software to print templates, try  Wilcom's TrueSizer, a free program.

Embroider
the corners of the scarf first. Lay the fabric flat with the right side facing up. Place the template in the corner at an angle. Allow at least 6" between the design and the corner of the fabric.

Mark the center point and the horizontal and vertical axis lines.

Remove the template and draw lines connecting the marks.

Hoop the fabric and stabilizer together, aligning the marks on the hoop with the lines on the fabric.

Attach the hoop to the machine and load the design.

Move the hoop so that the needle is directly aligned with the center point on the hoop.
