When choosing hand embroidery hoops, pick one that is at least 1" larger in diameter than the design you're using. That allows a 1/2" or greater margin between the outer edges of the design and the edges of the hand embroidery hoop.

When choosing designs for this project, choose light and open designs, as those will allow the light to shine through.

Lay the organza flat and place the hand embroidery hoop on top.

Using an air-erase pen, trace the outer edge of the hoop.

A template is a printout of a design, and it's an excellent tool for planning where to stitch.

Print a template of the design from your embroidery software.

If you do not have embroidery software to print templates, try  Wilcom's TrueSizer, a free program.

Center the template inside the shape and mark the center point, as well as the vertical and horizontal axis lines.

Remove the template and draw lines connecting the marks.

Lay a piece of heavy-weight water-soluble stabilizer on top of the organza.

Organza has a woven texture and laying stabilizer on top will help give the organza a nice, smooth surface for the embroidery.

Hoop the organza and stabilizer together, aligning the marks on the hoop with the lines on the fabric.

Since both sides of the embroidery will be seen, wind a bobbin with the same thread that you're using in the needle.

Attach the hoop to the machine and load the design.

Move the hoop so that the needle is over the center point on the organza.

Embroider the design.

When the design has finished, trim away as much of the excess stabilizer as possible.

The stabilizer's packaging should give instructions for removing the excess.

For Sulky Ultra Solvy, soak in water hot from the tap for 15 - 20 minutes.

Allow to air dry completely, and press. Make sure the iron is on a low setting, and use a pressing cloth, too.

Then, put the inner section of the hand embroidery hoop under the organza.

Place the outer hoop on top. Center the fabric, then hand tighten the hand screw.

Trim the fabric with pinking shears, leaving about 1/2" excess around the outside.

To create a hanger, tie one end of a ribbon into a knot around the hand screw at the top of the hoop.

Then, with another length of ribbon, tie a bow around the hand screw to complete.

The sun will catch the light, translucent shimmer of the organza, making a pretty decoration for your home!
