Begin by preparing the fabric for the top of the pot. Lay the denim flat, right side facing up. Place the pot upside down.

Trace around the pot with an air-erase pen.

A template, or printout of a design, is an excellent tool to help with placement.

Print a template of the design from your embroidery software.
If you do not have embroidery software, Wilcom's TrueSizer is
a free program to use.

Place the template in the center of the circle. Make sure there is at least 1/2" of space between the outer edges of the design, and the edge of the circle.

Mark the center point, as well as the vertical and horizontal axis lines.

Remove the template and draw lines connecting the marks. These marks will help when hooping.

Hoop the denim with a piece of cutaway stabilizer, lining up the marks on the fabric with the marks on the hoop.

Attach the hoop to the machine and load the design.

Move the hoop so that the needle is directly over the center point on the fabric. Embroider the design.

Measure and make marks 2" out from the circle all the way around the shape. Draw a curved line connecting the marks.

Cut out the shape along the line you just drew.

Hand sew around the circle so it can be cinched up later on. Lay the fabric flat with the wrong side facing up. Stitch through the fabric about 1/2" in from the outer edges. Make a stitch about every 1/4". Do this all the way around the shape.

Pull the end of the threads to cinch the fabric. Then, fill with polyester fiberfill.

Cinch tightly. There will be about a 1" hole remaining. Tie the threads into a knot to hold the fabric in place. Add more fiberfill until firm.

Dress up the pot by painting it using a small paint brush and acrylic craft paint. Here, simple flowers have been painted along the sides of the flower pot.

Let your imagination run wild and personalize your flower pot by adding faux flowers, beads, ribbon, or even heat-set crystals!
