Christmas Religious
New This Week

Making Spirits Bright

This week's designs feature religious expressions, images, and scenes for the Christmas season. From elegant yet easy-to-sew toile to iconic stained glass to graphical, bright designs, there's something in this collection to fit every need: decorations, stockings, dining
or kitchen decor, bedding, and clothing.

New angel designs are wonderful for making spirits bright. Each angel is outfitted in colors and items that speak to the season: Bright red, gold, blue, and green cheer up the short days of  December. The
poinsettias, holly, mistletoe, and bells they hold or that compose their gowns are emblematic of Christmas. As towel sets these angels brighten any bathroom. As potholders, oven mitts, or placemats, they will remind you and yours of the blessings of good food and the friends and family to share them with. And, applique angels and frames are a great way to use your favorite fabrics to embellish shirts, towels, and more.

Stained glass designs make wonderful wall hangings; toile Nativity designs are fabulous for quilting and making quick gifts. And you can wear your bright spirits with inspirational and elegant text designs: Rejoice, Peace on Earth, Wise Men Still Seek Him, and Holy Night.

Holy Night
All the primary elements of the Nativity scene are captured here, within the words Holy
Night. See Jesus cradled in the letter O, while Joseph and Mary kneel in the H and L and
a little lamb lies in the crook of the Y. Makes a gorgeous Christmas decoration.

6.81" x 3.95" and 3.85" x 2.24"

December was chosen as the month for Christmas because it is the month of the winter solstice
and marks the return of lengthening days. Light, like the star of Bethlehem, has always symbolized faith, and thus stained glass religious artwork combines both the power of imagery and the beauty
of light to convey the message of hope.

Toile Nativity

It's quick, easy, and attractive, too! The toile Nativity will be a hit with everyone on your gift giving list. Just one color change, and a low stitch count - great for lightweight and delicate fabrics. Also, can be used to quilt!

Angels have always been used as messengers from God. In the Bible, angels figure prominently in both the annunciation to Mary and the proclamation of the birth of Christ.

5.80" x 7.85" and 4.83" x 6.54"

St. Francis is credited with having created the first crche (representation of the
Nativity) in 1223. The many of the classic elements of the scene are shown here.

7.21" x 5.82" and 5.94" x 4.80"

Humble shepherds come to witness the miracle of Christ's birth. Their presence - and the fact that they were the first to whom the angels proclaimed the birth of Jesus - symbolizes the
belief that Jesus came to earth for everyone, not just for the powerful.

7.88" x 5.81" and 6.53" x 4.82"

A classic image for the season than that of Mary holding the baby Jesus in her
arms. Behind her we see the gifts of the Magi, but you can tell that Mary knows
she's already holding a very precious gift.

6.30" x 5.80" and 5.23" x 4.82"

The story of the birth of Jesus is actually rich in Easter symbolism. For instance, it is not uncommon to see a lamb depicted beside the manger, reminding the viewer that Jesus is
the Paschal lamb. See him here, sweetly slumbering.

4.98" x 7.83" and 6.79" x 4.33"

Wear your Christmas spirit on your sleeve - and around your shoulders - with this elegant
wrap that features the toile Nativity designs.

Poinsettia Angel
Poinsettias are native to Mexico, where they are known as Flor de Noche Buena or
"Flower of the Holy Night." This angel, with billowing skirt of red and shades of gold,
holds a bouquet of poinsettias in her hands.

5.81" x 6.80" and 4.79" x 5.62"

Bell Angel
Jewish priests wore bells when they performed sacrifices to atone for the peoples' sins.
Thus, when you "hear the bells on Christmas Eve," they are being rung as a reminder of
Christ's sacrifice.
5.81" x 6.61" and 4.77" x 5.43"

Holly Angel
In both Christian and pre-Christian times, holly was believed to ward off evil spirits. The
spiny leaves symbolized Christ's crown of thorns and the red berries the blood of Christ.
This angels beautiful gown is trimmed with holly.
5.81" x 8.03" and 4.81" x 6.64"

Mistletoe Angel
Kissing under the mistletoe is a tradition that has its roots buried deep in the past.
During the time of the Druids, moral code required that if enemies chanced to meet
under mistletoe in their forest, they laid down their weapons and observed a truce
until the following day. From this code came the tradition of exchanging kisses beneath
mistletoe as a gesture of friendship, peace, and goodwill.
5.80" x 5.99" and 4.83" x 4.99"

Joy to the World
Say it with simplicity and style! Elegant script text shouts 'Joy to the World'
with star embellishments.

4.80" x 5.59" and 3.32" x 3.85"

Baby Jesus and the Stable Animals
One folk story relates that, on the night of Christ's birth, the animals in the stable were
gifted with human speech. And, like the shepherds, they too knelt down in homage before
the Christ child. The story further suggests that every Christmas eve at midnight animals - particular domestic animals - regain this gift briefly.

4.98" x 7.83" and 6.79" x 4.33"
