Sashiko Leaves

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese form of embroidery that's both decorative and useful. It was used since ancient times to reinforce fabric by stitching several layers together with
repetitive designs inspired by shapes found in nature. Click here for special instructions for sashiko embroidery -- for a bold and traditional look, use 30 weight cotton thread on indigo fabric. Use these designs to quilt blocks of a blanket or wall hanging, or as redwork-style decoration.
