The summer song of the Carolina wren seems to sound in every patch of woods in the eastern United States. A shy bird with a boisterous song, the Carolina wren can be hard to see but is easy to hear. The tufted titmouse is a little gray bird with an echoing voice, is common in eastern forests, and is a frequent visitor to feeders. Both will make sweet music on pillow covers and quilts.

7.77" x 6.87" and 6.58" x 5.83" and 5.45" x 4.83"

Embroiderers love to stitch lighthouses, and suggestions from Sue, Cathy, and Marianne have added two distinctive new lighthouses to the collection. The Annisquam Lighthouse, with its tall white tower and black lantern, is the quintessential image of a New England lighthouse. The lighthouse began its history in 1800 with an act of Congress authorizing the erection of a light on Wigwam Point in Annisquam, and was refurbished in 2000 with new bricks, windows, and beams. It's a beauty on wall hangings, pillow covers, quilts, and more.

Available in three sizes:
6.66" x 5.85" and 5.56" x 4.86" and 3.89" x 3.39"

Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse has been guiding passing ships through the treacherous waters of the Straits of Mackinac in Michigan since 1889. This "Castle of the Straits" is a true gem of the Great Lakes. Mackinac Point marks the junction of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. The light stopped operating in 1957, but will brighten your embroidery projects with its history and grandeur!

Available in two sizes:
9.39" x 5.64" and 6.81" x 4.09"

Elizabeth and Joyce requested designs for golf towels, and we were happy to comply. Be sure to see the Golf Towels project instructions for a quick and easy demonstration of how to embroider a towel for a golf bag.

A "birdie" takes on new meaning with this cardinal soaring with golf balls and tees. Embellish towels, shirts, and bags with this high-flying design! These birds join the earlier birds in flight with autumn, flowers, snowflakes, Christmas, and crafty elements.

Available in two sizes:
5.85" x 7.19" and 4.83" x 5.94"
  Available in two sizes:
5.69" x 4.82" and 3.86" x 3.26"

A classic golf crest is perfect for golf towels, while a humorous "rough day" design brings a laugh to the links. Both make great embellishments on retirement, birthday, and holiday gifts!

If you know a golf superhero, he or she will love the designs below. Emblazon "Golfing is my super power" or "Putting is my superpower" on shirts, sweatshirts, and jacket backs for a powerful effect!

6.38" x 5.86" and 5.26" x 4.84" and 3.86" x 3.55"

6.41" x 5.86" and 5.26" x 4.80" and 3.86" x 3.52"

Crown a king or queen of the links with a golf-themed design fit for royalty. And then stitch a Peace Love Golf philosophy onto shirt fronts and golf towels to score a hole-in-one.

 Available in three sizes:

The southwestern-themed welcome designs inspired Debbie to request a welcome sign in other styles, including one that would look right at home in Florida. The tropical notes of flamingos and palm trees give a warm welcome to family and friends on address banners, outdoor flags, and door hangers.

Available in four sizes:
11.75" x 6.37" and 9.42" x 5.11" and 7.80" x 4.23" and 6.86" x 3.73"

Stitch a welcome sign in the style of Pacific Northwest coast native Indian art. All the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest coast is here, from the rolling ocean waves to the fresh green spruce forests. A stunning addition to towels, pillow shams, wall hangings, and more!

Available in four sizes:
11.67" x 6.90" and 9.41" x 5.56" and 7.80" x 4.61" and 6.86" x 4.06"

Embroiderers love the light-stitching and dramatic dog sketches, and requests for additional breeds in this medley style continue at an impressive rate. Cheri suggested creating a sketch of the Shiba Inu, and Yvonne requested the Dalmatian. The Shiba Inu was originally bred to hunt in the dense undergrowth of Japan's mountainous areas, and is the smallest of the Japanese native breeds. The Dalmatian is the original and only "coaching" dog. His affinity for horses remains a basic instinct to this day, and makes the breed a natural guardian of the horse-drawn vehicle. Both are noble additions to the collection!

Shiba Inu   Dalmatian

Available in four sizes:
7.51" x 7.80" and 6.65" x 6.91" and 5.83" x 6.06" and 4.84" x 5.03"
  Available in four sizes:
7.80" x 7.78" and 6.90" x 6.88" and 5.85" x 5.84" and 4.84" x 4.82"

Marlene thought the Schnauzer would be a natural choice for the sketchbook style, and she was right. Schnauzers are sturdy, athletic dogs known for their arched eyebrows, and bristly mustache and whiskers. Social and affectionate, Schnauzers are very loyal to their families and especially love children. Add to tote bags, towels, and wall hangings for a look the whole family will love!

Special Request of the Week

Embroidery Library is always inspired by your design suggestions, and we thank you for sending us your terrific ideas, which we regularly incorporate into the weekly design themes. This space is dedicated to the "Request of the Week."

Pat requested Sunbonnet Sue and Fisherman Fred taking in the sights in Washington, D.C., for a 'round the world Sue and Fred quilt. Sue pauses by the reflecting pool near the Washington Monument, and Fred takes photos of the White House. What an inspirational idea for a quilt, Pat! Here's hoping these designs help complete your quilting journey. These patriotic Sue and Fred designs would also look terrific on coordinating pillow covers, and on a wall hanging. Thanks for the great idea, Pat!
