 Name That Tune!
 

Tap your toes, and snap your fingers. Feel the beat, and move to the rhythm. This week's new music-themed designs are pitch-perfect, and will play sweet music from your embroidery machine.

Musical instruments and whimsical sayings strike the right chord from shirts, jackets, tote bags, towels, quilts, and pillows. Freestanding lace bookmarks are noteworthy for everyone -- from musicians to music-lovers to those that like to sing out loud in the shower.

Sweet Sheet Music

The following designs will delight music lovers of all ages, whether they plan an instrument
in the band or orchestra, conduct or direct a group of players, or simply enjoy lilting notes
sliding up and down the scale. Great on totes, pillows, quilts, towels, garments, and more!
 
The word "violin" is from the Latin vitula, which means "stringed instrument." Although
stringed instruments have been played as early as humankind can remember, the violin
as we know it came from Italy in the 1500s. The design below and to the left features the
instrument framed against a piece of sheet music; the single violin is below, right.

The earliest flutes were made from animal tusks and bones more than 35,000 years ago.
In Germany, ancient flutes have been found to be made of a mammoth's tusk, or a swan's
bones. The design below, left, features a flute framed by a piece of sheet music. The design
below, right, is the single flute.

This woodwind is a more modern addition to the family of instruments. Adolphe Sax, a
clarinet and flute player from Belgium, developed and constructed the saxophone and
patented his design in 1846. Famous saxophone players include Charlie Bird Parker,
John Coltrane, Stan Getz, and Boots Randolph (his best-known work was Yakkety Sax).

The birth of the trumpet dates back 3500 years.  Bronze and silver trumpets were even found in King Tut's tomb!  Famous trumpet players include Chet Baker, Louis Armstrong, and Dizzy Gillespie.

Music-Themed Lace Bookmarks

Freestanding lace bookmarks are the perfect gift for musicians, directors, and conductors.
Hoop a piece of heavyweight water-soluble stabilizer (Sulky Ultra Solvy works great!)
and embroider the design with 40 weight thread in the top and bobbin. Soak the excess
