Few mystical creatures have inspired more legends and tales than the unicorn. The horned horse with a gleaming white body, magical powers, and lightning-fast speed, can be found in myths and stories in almost every corner of the world.

This week the Embroidery Library is pleased to bring you a whole herd of unicorns, complete with a few legends and tales. You'll find a unicorn track scene, track portrait, and a rainbow-filled home decor pack. A few other mystical creatures accompany the unicorn this week, like a hippogriff and a centaur.

Legends of unicorns fluorished during the middle ages, in the times of kings and
queens, dragons and fair maidens. A unicorn was attracted by the perfumes of a
young maiden's dress, and would run to her and lay his head in her lap. This design
features a unicorn posed against a pastel sky, framed in a unicorn hoof track.

A Jewish folk tale describes the unicorn's short time aboard Noah's Ark.
The unicorns demanded so much space and special treatment aboard
the ark, that Noah made them leave. Some accounts claim that unicorns

In Chinese mythology, the unicorn is an animal that represents good fortune and
health. It is a cautious creature, careful not to tread on any living being, and lives
for 1000 years to foretell the birth and death of great humans.

In the middle ages the unicorn became a sign of the apothecary. Many believed
that the unicorn protected against deadly poisons. The horn guarded against
scorpions and other venomous insects.
