On the Open Road

Summer vacation time -- load up the grandkids, it's time to head for the lake or the mountains.
Or, as the weather turns cooler and autumn leaves and geese begin to fly, it's time to travel south!
In either case, a "sweet home" is where you park it (and the decor you give it). Three new samplers and travel-inspired borders and corners are perfect for your home away from home.
Frame them, use them for throw pillows, seat cushion covers, quilts and wall hangings.

"Home Is Where You Park It"  Sampler
For those who embrace a nomadic spirit and are continuously out and about seeing the sights or experiencing new territories, this motto is for you. Families on adventurous vacations and snowbirds cruising to follow the sun will enjoy stitching it on pillows, shirts, window shades, and more.

Available in two sizes:
5.87"X8.31" and 4.85"X6.87"

Design Request of the Week: Home Sweet Away From Home Sampler
"We just got back into the country last night," Frecia wrote. And we can certainly tell that these travelers stay busy, so it's not surprising that she made such a fitting request for the travel trailer camper. "I wanted the design because we spend a lot of time in that trailer" she wrote. "I wanted to do 'home sweet home,' but thought it really is 'away from home.'"

Frecia said she's thought about making a pillow with the design for the sofa in their travel trailer, as well as a picture for the wall and a tee shirt, "so this thing may get stitched out a lot," she wrote. We hope it does, and that she and her family and friends have many years of fun on the road.

Available in two sizes:
5.91"X7.68" and 4.90"X6.35"

So Many Roads Sampler
From sea to shining sea, whether on interstates or scenic byways, travel has its own rewards.
This is a motto that resonates with all who know the call of the open road. Great to display on sweatshirts, totes, pillows, and camping gear, or framed for the wall.

Available in two sizes:
5.86"X8.29" and 4.84"X6.84"

Curvy Road Corner
The unmistakable symbol for caution in bouncing along through twists and turns, this little corner can sometimes be more about life than driving.
  Compass Rose Corner
All points beckon the traveler to new horizons and great adventure. Follow this compass design to cozy decor for campers, RVs and more.

Available in two sizes:
4.86"X4.86" and 3.85"X3.85"

  Available in two sizes:

Happy Camper Border
For relaxing among the pine trees, along mountain streams and lovely lakes, there's nothing like a getting away in an RV. Add this little motor home border to curtains, dinette placemats, or camping gear. Pop it on a backpack or tote strap; ring the hem of a shirt or skirt.

Take a Tour with Toile Landmarks - Dollar Delights

Toile designs were made for people who love to travel. The low-stitch-count designs save time because they sew up in a jiffy. Yet, as simple as toile is to do, its beauty is still artfully complex. Like engravings that use one color, the variations of stitch density and negative space give the effect of depth and dimension. Select a favorite landmark for a travel tote. Pick a place you aspire to see for a traveling T-shirt. Or, choose a bunch for quick-stitching a round-the-world tour or memory quilt.
Easy on the travel budget, too -- each design is
just $1 each.

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France - Toile
-- only $1.00!
The tallest structure in the world until 1930, Gustave Eiffel's tower is still the tallest in Paris. The tower's revolutionary architecture was not entirely embraced by Parisians when it was built to commemorate the  centennial of the French Revolution in 1889. Today the iron tower is the toast, and icon, of the town.
Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy - Toile
-- only $1.00!
Built as a bell tower to the Cathedral at Pisa, (whose construction began in 1173 and continued for 200 years), the tower began to lean even before it was completed. Amazing for its beauty, its tilt has made it world famous.
A hearty 294 steps will get you to the top.

Available in two sizes:
4.90"X6.62" and 2.85"X3.85"

  Available in two sizes:
4.83"X6.85" and 2.73"X3.86"

Pyramids of Giza, Egypt - Toile -- only $1.00!
The pyramids of the Giza Valley stand as a monument to the skill of ancient builders.
The Great Pyramid, the tomb of King Khufu, is the largest and oldest surviving "Wonder of the World." Built around 2560 B.C., it is constructed of two million blocks of stone.

Available in two sizes:
6.86"X2.62" and 3.84"X1.50"

Sydney Opera House, Sydney, Australia - Toile -- only $1.00!
This distinctive 20th century building, with its angular fan-like shapes and gleaming roofs, covered with more than a million glossy white and matte cream tiles, has become a famous landmark. The expressionist modern design is made up of a series of large pre-cast concrete "shells" that house five theatres, concert halls, and rehearsal spaces, a well as four restaurants and souvenir shops.

Available in two sizes:
6.85"X3.35" and 3.86"X1.89"

Taj Mahal, Agra, India - Toile
-- only $1.00!
The reflecting pools and gardens, minarets and bulbous white marble dome personify elegance. Built in the 15th century by the Emperor Shah Johan as a tribute and final resting place for his wife, the mausoleum has survived for centuries.
Space Needle, Seattle, U.S. - Toile
-- only $1.00!
Designed for the 1962 World's Fair, this futuristic structure was built to withstand earthquakes and winds of 200 mph. The Seattle icon offers a unique visual dining experience  600 feet in the air.

Available in two sizes:
5.58"X4.85" and 3.87"X3.35"

  Available in two sizes:
3.58"X6.85" and 2.02"X3.85"

Mount Rushmore, South Dakota - Toile
-- only $1.00!
Work on this national monument was begun in 1927. Carver Gutzon Borglum chose the four presidents to sculpt into the high peak of granite in the Black Hills National Forest. There might have been more figures, had Borglum not died suddenly after completing Theodore Roosevelt in 1939.
Empire State Building, New York - Toile
-- only $1.00!
This 102-story Manhattan skyscraper in Art Deco style has the most popular observation decks in the world. Built in 1931, it was the tallest building in the world for 41 years. Its famous floodlights of variable colors are used to celebrate and honor many occasions.

Available in two sizes:
6.30"X4.85" and 3.86"X2.98"

  Available in two sizes:
4.85"X6.21" and 3.01"X3.85"

Alamo, San Antonio, Texas - Toile -- only $1.00!
The Alamo was a mission that became a garrison and the scene of the 1835 battle in which more than 200 volunteers lost their lives when they fought for freedom from Mexico. "Remember the Alamo" became the battle cry for an army led by Sam Houston as they avenged the Alamo deaths, and finally brought defeat to Santa Anna's Mexican forces, giving Texas its independence.

Available in two sizes:
6.84"X3.69" and 3.82"X2.05"

Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco - Toile -- only $1.00!
The icon of San Francisco, this 4,200-foot bridge held the record for the longest suspension bridge for 27 years after it was completed in 1937. Frommer's travel guide calls it "possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world."

Available in two sizes:
6.83"X4.09" and 3.80"X2.30"
