In Hungarian textile art, color plays a significant role in the meaning and emotion of the design.
Serious pieces were filled with white, or blue, red, and black combinations. Happy and light-
hearted pieces were portrayed with a rainbow of colors, such as the cheerful flower designs
included here.

Use large feature designs to decorate shirt fronts, or embroider along pants or jeans legs for a unique
and colorful embellishment.

Hungarian motifs originally drew from Italian and Turkish styles. It's believed that the peacock
(not native to Eastern Europe) was brought by Turkish influence. Bold, colorful birds were the
perfect subject for the Hungarian embroiderers, who prized vivid colors!
