Butterflies
New this week

Butterflies (& Towel Toppers, Too!)

Bring spring into your sewing room with new butterfly designs!  Beautiful, delicate creatures flutter around the Embroidery Library this week, bringing sunshine and warmer days.

Crewel butterflies look beautiful when sewn with bright colors onto dark, denim jackets.  These ornate, graphic designs have a low number of color changes, making sewing quick and easy.  Realistic butterflies perch on ferns and lilacs and birch leaves, their colorful, dainty wings a magnificent contrast against the flowers and leaves.

Also, eight new towel toppers for any room in the house!  Bring personality to kitchen cabinets and towel racks with creative towel toppers.  A shamrock with Celtic knots is just in time for St. Patrick's Day.  Or, bring a bit of Mardi Gras into your home with a grinning gator in a purple mask.

All designs are sold individually, and some of the new designs are also available in value packs.  Bring spring into your sewing room with these newest designs!

The Papago Indians have a myth that emphasizes the butterfly's beauty.
The great creator took pity on children, thinking that their destiny was to
grow old, and weak, as they moved through life.  The creator gathered
colors from the sunlight, leaves, flowers, and sky, and put into a magical
bag.  He gave the bag as a gift to a group of children.  When the children
opened the bag, beautiful butterflies flew out of the bag, enchanting the
children.

Crewel Butterfly 6

Available in two sizes:
4.18"X4.11" and 3.02"X2.95"

According to the Papago, the butterflies also sang.  But the songbirds
became jealous, and complained to the creator.  The creator took away
the gift of song, so now the butterflies are beautiful, but silent.

Crewel Butterfly 8

The Aztecs believed that souls of brave warriors and relatives visited the living
in the form of butterflies.  High-ranking members of Aztec society carried
bouquets of flowers to attract the butterflies.  The Aztec believed that bouquets
should always be smelled from the side, never the top, so space would always
be reserved for the souls and the butterflies.

Crewel Butterfly 3

4.77"X4.96" and 3.72"X3.87"

One Ojibway story tells of the time when animals were responsible for raising children.  The animals spoiled the children so much that the children never
learned how to walk.  One powerful woman tossed pebbles into the air, and
the pebbles turned into butterflies.  The children saw the butterflies and began
to walk and chase the beautiful creatures.  And that's how the butterflies
taught the children how to walk.
