The Thread Exchange is a free tool that you can use to find equivalents
from Madeira rayon to other brands of thread.

To begin, refer to the color change sheet for the design that you're
working with. Check the box of the brand that you want to find matches
to.
Enter the Madeira thread numbers from the design's color change sheet.
Do not enter the number/pound sign; just enter the four-digit codes from
the color change sheet. You can enter up to ten thread numbers at one
time.
Click the "start search" button.
You'll be directed to a page that shows color boxes, as well as a chart
that gives equivalents. Please note that any equivalents are ones that
we have identified. As not all thread colors have matches or equivalents
between companies, it's unlikely that you'll get matches for all of your
thread colors. But you will most likely get enough matches to get
started in the right direction.
If you don't find many matches with the Thread Exchange, do not be
discouraged! Choose colors from your thread stash that you think will
work best with the design. Most color change sheets list the color name
(e.g. red, rust, dark blue, etc.), and many list the part of the design
that is colored with that step. Try new combinations, and have fun
exploring the creative world of color! |
