What is the difference between zipped and unzipped?

When you download designs from your order history, you'll usually find two buttons. One is labeled zipped; another is labeled unzipped:

Embroidery machines cannot read zipped files. And, most embroidery software cannot open zipped files either. The simplest step is to download unzipped files by using the "unzipped" buttons.

However, the benefit to zipped files is that they are compressed, and take up less space. If storage space is a concern for you, then choose zipped files. Also, some designs, such as in-the-hoop or applique designs, can only be downloaded as zipped.

If you download zipped files, then you'll need to unzip them before loading to your machine. The process is very fast and simple. Click here for instructions for unzipping on a PC, and click here for instructions for unzipping on a Mac.
