Supplies Needed:
**Piece of fabric - a bit larger than your hoop
**Small pieces of fabric - for applique pieces
**Temporary spray adhesive
**Medium weight cutaway stabilizer
**Lapel pin back (we used a 1 1/4 inch size)
**Hot glue and gun
**Pinking shears
Designs used: Crafty Cut Christmas Tree (Applique) You can use any type of applique design to make an ornament - we are using a crafty cut applique design.
First, spray a piece of medium weight cutaway stabilizer with temporary adhesive and smooth the fabric on top (the fabric that you are embroidering the applique onto). Then, hoop the fabric and stabilizer together, attach the hoop to the machine, and embroider the design according to these instructions - click here for Crafty Cut Applique instructions. You can also use regular applique designs and heirloom applique designs.
To create the backside of the pin, cut another piece of fabric the same size as the embroidered piece. Then, spray the backside of the embroidered piece with adhesive.
Lay the embroidered piece on top of the back fabric piece, wrong sides together, and press in place.
Cut around edges of the design leaving about a 1/2 inch of fabric.
Sew a 1/4 inch seam around the outer edges of the pin.
To add the pin back, add a few drops of hot glue to the back of the pin and press it in place in the center of the back fabric.
