Bath Tissue Holder

Bath Tissue Holder

Extra supplies, right at hand!

This pretty and practical bath tissue hanger is perfect for any bathroom, especially the ones that receive guests in our homes. No one will have to go into your cupboards, searching high and low when supplies are scarce.

Organza allows the seeker to see just what's inside, and the compact shape will hang neatly next to a hand towel on the towel bar or from a hook on the wall.

Supplies needed:

  • 1/4 yard of organza fabric

  • Heavy, water-soluble stabilizer

  • Scrap of felt or other heavy-weight fabric

  • 1 3/4 yards of narrow trim

Embroidery Designs from Embroidery Library:

Instructions:

Sew out and closely trim the towel topper design on the heavy fabric scrap.
Leave a 1/2" tab along the bottom of the topper.

On the organza fabric, from one short end, mark a line down the center of the long rectangle. The line should be about 25" long. Measure up 1" from the same short end and mark a line perpendicular to the long line. Then measure up 7 1/2" and make another perpendicular line. From there, repeat the 7 1/2" measurement and marking 2 more times.

You will have marked out three 7 1/2" sections. These will form the compartments that will hold the individual rolls. Now find the center of each section and mark it on the long center line with a small mark. Sew out one accessory design at each center mark. Use water- soluble stabilizer to stabilize the organza fabric.

Fold the organza along the perpendicular line that is farthest from the end where you started measuring, and trim off any excess fabric.

Hem the long sides of the organza.

Cut the piece of narrow trim in half, and apply one half to each side of the embroidered end of the organza. It will extend just beyond the bottom of the last compartment.

Bring the two ends together with the wrong sides together.  Stitch the ends of the organza to the towel topper with the right side of the topper over the front of the embroidered organza. Flip the topper up and topstitch along the seam line.

Using a satin stitch, sew along each of your marked horizontal lines, dividing the holder and creating each compartment.

Cut open the button hole on the towel topper and sew a button to the back of the topper.

Fill the holder with tissue and hang from a towel bar, a rack, or a hook in your bathroom.

Pretty, and useful too!
