Candle Skirts

Candle Skirts

Everyone loves to dress up at Christmas time -- even the table! These colorful candle skirts add a wonderful touch of merry whimsy to brighten your decor. The happy little reindeer prance along above fanciful ball trim to make any plain taper candle holder extra special.

Supplies Needed:

  • 3/8 yard of skirt fabric

  • 2 1/4 yards of ball trim

  • Taper candle holders

  • Taper candles (dripless)

Embroidery Designs from Embroidery Library:

Mark two 12" circles onto your fabric, and embroider two reindeer within each circle opposite one another. One should be inverted, so that when the skirt is on the candle, it will hang right side up. Each embroidery should be at least 3/4" away from the edge of the circles.

When you have finished embroidering, cut out each circle along your marked lines.

Serge or zig-zag stitch around the cut edges of the circles to keep the fabric from fraying, then apply the ball trim around the entire edge of each circle.

In the center of each circle, sew a 26mm button hole, and cut it open.

Put the candles in the holders, and slide each skirt over a candle. When you get close to the bottom of the candle, the skirt opening will fit snugly and stay in place.
