When you download the in-the-hoop sachet embroidery design, you'll find four files. One is the full embroidery file. The other two are dielines files marked with the letters DL. Dielines are used to cut the fabric to the right shape and size.

Open each dieline file with an embroidery software, and print it. If you do not have embroidery software, Wilcom TrueSizer is a free program to use.

Spray the back side of each dieline template with temporary adhesive. Smooth each dieline template onto a piece of linen fabric. Cut out each shape, and remove the paper template.

Hoop a piece of tear-away stabilizer. Madeira E-Zee Tear 1.5 oz. or Floriani Tearaway Medium are good choices. These brands are more fibrous, less paper-like, and will tear more cleanly.

Attach the hoop to the machine and load the full embroidery design (not the dieline files).

Use a size 11 or 75/11 sharp sewing needle, rather than an embroidery needle. A sharp sewing needle has a smaller, finer point than an embroidery needle, so that will make smaller perforations in the stabilizer.

Embroider the design. The first thing to embroider will be a dieline or outline. This marks the area on the stabilizer for the front fabric piece.

Remove the hoop from the machine, but do not unhoop the stabilizer.

Spray the back of the front fabric piece with a small amount of temporary adhesive. Place the fabric right inside the sewn outline.

Attach the hoop back onto the machine and continue with the design.

An "E" stitch or blanket stitch tack down will sew next. This holds the front fabric in place for the remainder of the design.

Then all of the inside details will stitch.

Follow along on the color change sheet, watching for the note that says "back piece tackdown." When you get to this section, remove the hoop from the machine, but do not unhoop the stabilizer.

Cut a 7-9" length of ribbon. Bring the ends of the ribbon together to form a loop, and tape it in place on the back side of the back fabric piece.

Turn the hoop over, and spray just the edges of the back side of the back fabric piece with temporary adhesive. Place the back piece inside the shape on the back side of the stabilizer.

Tape the ribbon loop to the stabilizer to prevent the loop from being sewn over later.

Since both sides of the sachet will be visible when complete, wind a bobbin with the same color used in the needle.

Attach the hoop to the machine and continue embroidering the design. A tack down stitch will show, binding the layers together.

After the design is finished sewing, remove the hoop from the machine. Unhoop the stabilizer, remove the tape, and gently tear the design from the stabilizer. The outline stitches will be removed with the stabilizer.

Fill the sachet with your choice of dried herbs or flowers, through the opening. Then hand-sew the opening closed by stitching along the original tack down seam.
