Supplies needed:
-
1/4 yard
each of outer and lining fabrics
-
2" of sew-in Velcro fastener
-
6" by 11" piece of fusible

|
|
Instructions:
Mark a 6" by 11" rectangle
on the right side of the outer fabric.
Center the embroidery
design on the right half of the rectangle, and sew out
the design. |
|

|
|
Cut out the rectangle from the
outer fabric and use it as a pattern to cut out the same
size
rectangles from the lining fabric and the fusible
batting.
Then, also
from the lining fabric,
cut out 2 rectangles that are 5" wide by 6" tall. |
|

|
|
Fold and press the small
rectangles in half so that you end up with rectangles
that are 2 1/2" by 6" These will be the inside
pockets.
On each
folded rectangle, along the cut edges, center one side
of the Velcro and stitch it to the rectangle through
both layers. The Velcro should be about 1/2"
away from the cut edges. |
|
 |
|
Fuse the batting to the wrong side of the
rectangle that is made from the outer fabric.
Lay the small folded rectangles
with their Velcro strips on
each end of the right side of the large lining
rectangle. The folded edges face inward toward the
center of the large rectangle. |
|
 |
|
Lay the outer piece on top
of the lining pieces with the right side down.
Stitch along the outer
perimeter of the large rectangle using a 1/4"
seam allowance. Leave a 4-inch opening on one side
for turning. |
|
 |
|
Clip the corners to eliminate bulk and
turn the purse pack right side out. Close the
opening and then topstitch around the entire outer perimeter, close
to the edge. |
|
 |
|
All that's
needed now is to insert tea bags and sweetener into
the pockets, close like a book, and fasten with the Velcro
closure. |
|
 |
|
Slip this pretty pack into your purse.
A warm cup of tea will be so
satisfying on a cool morning, and an excellent
pick-me-up at midday.
Wouldn't this make a
great gift for all your best friends? |
