Wine Glass Votive Candle

Wine Glass Votive Candle

Wine glasses serve as candle holders in this creative project. Create a 'shade' for the candle that will perch in an elegant manner atop a wine glass.

Wonderful table decorations, for weddings, anniversaries, and other special occasions!

Supplies needed:

  • 1/3 yard of fabric that coordinates with your wedding colors

  • 1 wine glass

  • 1 votive or tea light candle

  • Pattern: Click here for printable pattern piece.

  • Bell Border

Instructions:

Print out pattern piece and cut it out.
Trace pattern piece onto the fabric, and embroider the designs onto the fabric according to the placement dots. Use a medium- or heavy-weight, cut-away stabilizer. After embroidering is finished, cut out both the fabric and stabilizer on the pattern lines.  Don't remove the stabilizer. It will be needed to keep the shade firm.

Use a little bit of spray adhesive on the back of the embroidered piece, and adhere it to a piece of tear-away stabilizer that is slightly larger than the pattern piece.

Satin stitch around the perimeter of the piece to finish the edge.

Tear away the excess stabilizer.

Meet the ends around your wine glass and glue together with a hot glue gun. Make sure that the top edge is just below the rim of the wine glass so that the candle flame can't catch the fabric on fire.

Use as a  focal point, and dress up the tables for a wedding reception or any special event!
